This unit is located in Bon Secour Cottages in the quaint community of Bon Secour. Only 15 minutes from the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast yet worlds away in ambiance. This is old style Gulf Coast living at its best, with modern amenities. The cottages are on the Bon Secour River where it flows into Bon Secour Bay. Cottage 6 is a one bedroom /one bath unit that sleeps 4. The open concept living, dining, and kitchen area is bright and cheerful. Unit has full kitchen. This property has been undergoing renovation which is almost complete. The deck will become a screened in porch and a kitchen vent will be added. Bon Secour Cottages was a former fish camp with 10 units that have been converted into a condominium. This is close to the beach (about 10-15 minutes, 18-20 in summer) but a world away from the traffic and high rises of the coast. As you pull into the driveway, passing under the moss draped live oak you will feel a sense of serenity and peace. Bon Secour has long been famous for shrimp, oysters, and other seafood. You can take your early morning coffee (unit has a Keurig and drip brewer) and sit on the deep water pier and watch the shrimp boats come and go, perhaps you will even catch a sight of the dolphins as they travel up river in search of food. Fishing from the pier requires a saltwater permit, available by the week for only $10 at various locations around Foley or Gulf Shores. Great dining is nearby at the Tin Top but if you prefer to eat in there are two excellent seafood markets in easy walking distance. This is a boater's dream location, with miles of navigatable waterways. There is a boat ramp at both Aquila's and Billy's Seafood and room to tie up at the pier. It is easy to access the intercostal canal, Mobile Bay, and even the Gulf. Some restaurants have boat access from the canal so you can have a great day on the water. Bon Secour is home to the oldest homes in Baldwin County, found right here on River road. The nearby Swift-Coles house is open for tours on Tuesdays and Fridays. If you choose to walk to Billy's Seafood you will see a marker telling about the Saltworks that were located here until Union soldiers destroyed them. If you are interested in history take a half a day and visit Fort Morgan and learn about early Gulf Coast life and the Battle of Mobile Bay. The fort is about 36 miles away on Fort Morgan peninsula.
