This home, known as Dune Bug, is a professionally decorated duplex nestled in the Dunes subdivision, a gated community, on the Gulf Of Mexico 9/10th's of a mile from the historic Fort Morgan. Both the subdivision and the house are very family friendly. Dune Bug is located 5 houses from the community pool and the beach is approx. 100 yds from the community pool. There is an additional outdoor and indoor pool as well at a sauna and exercise room at the Dunes Condos on the same property. Dune Bug is a 2 story house with a queen bedroom on the first floor with its own entrance, TV and private bath with shower. Next to it is the kitchen that is loved by all who cook. Great gathering area for the family members or if the kids want to snack earlier sitting at the bar. The owner leaves a modest supply of spices for the designated cook. To complete the cooking process there is a Weber charcoal grill under the house. The kitchen is open to the dining and living area and open to the deck where you can view the natural wetlands,sand dunes and Gulf of Mexico with an almost unobstructed view with the exception of a beautiful Victorian on the first tier. The second level of the house has 2 bedrooms -- the Master bedroom with a king bed, tv, dvd/vcr, This room has it's a private bath with an oversized shower and a deck that has a breathtaking view of the Gulf.The other side of the 2nd floor is the Bunk room with twin bunks and a daybed and its own bath with tub and shower. Room enough to put a couple of air mattresses for all the kids to share in the same room and watch TV. The washer and dryer are located in the hall between the 2 bedrooms.Bike riding is a wonderful sport in this low density area and you can ride down to the Fort and take the Mobile Ferry over to Dauphin Island and visit thet aquarium, Fort Gaines or just ride the wonderful bike paths on the island. Across the road from the Dunes is the Gulf Shores Marina where you can charter fishing boats, eat at the very popular Tacky Jack's restaurant, or visit the bar under the restaurant. There is also a small store for items you may have forgotten at home. Other restaurants in the area are back toward Gulf Shores, The Marketplace at The Beach Club and for fine dining, you can travel another 10 miles up the road to Ocean's. Wonderful cuisine & my personal favorite is the Bread Pudding!!!! For the golfers, there are 2 excellent golf courses right on Fort Morgan Rd. -- Peninsula and Kiva Dunes. Long walks down the beach after a filling meal are a must! See the sunset, find seashells, see the little ghost crabs scurring around for that evening meal on the beach and watch the beautiful array of birds we have in our area including the brown pelican. If you fish, you may want to just surf fish before the sun goes down and maybe grill your catch for early breakfast. Nothing like it! During the summer months you may witness a turtle nest hatching, depending on when you visit. Turtle season begins May 1 and ends Oct. 31. An experience you will never forget!For those who want a laid back vacation without all the hustle and bustle of high rises and lots of people, this is the perfect spot and a vacation you will always remember.
